Crunchy Muruku

You can’t go wrong with this tasty and crunchy snack, it’s always a hit all year round!


Classic Rolled Oats

40g Captain Classic Rolled Oats


200g Rice flour

Urud Dhal

50g Urad Dhal


60g Pottukadalai

Coconut Milk

300g Coconut Milk

Sesame Seeds

2 tbsp Sesame seeds

Cumin Seeds

1 tsp Cumin Seeds

Cumin Powder

1 tbsp Cumin Salt


1 tbsp butter


Oil for Frying


10~20g water (if necessary)


  1. Grind the split roasted gram until fine.
  2. Dry roast Captain Oats® Classic Rolled Oats and grind until fine.
  3. Dry roast the urad dhal and grind until fine.
  4. Mix grinded ingredients with cumin salt, sesame seeds and cumin seeds.
  5. Bring coconut milk and butter to simmer. Don’t boil the coconut milk.
  6. Add heated coconut milk to the flour mix and knead until soft and stiff dough.
  7. Heat oil for Deep Frying.
  8. Take a ball of dough in a murukku press.
  9. Squeeze out murukku over greased plate and drop gently into hot oil.
  10. Fry until murukku turns Golden in colour.
  11. Drain excess oil in paper towel.
