Middle Eastern Meat and Oat Soup

Nourishing, hearty and ready to serve in about 20 minutes - perfect after a long and busy day!

INGREDIENTS

Quick Cook Oatmeal

1 cup Captain Quick Cook Oatmeal

Meat

1/2 kg meat (cubed)

Onion

2 onions (chopped)

Garlic

4 garlic cloves (crushed)

Cumin Powder

1/4 teaspoon cumin powder

Cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Ground Cardamom

1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

Dried Lemon

Dried lemon (peeled)

Salt

Salt (to taste)

Ghee

2 tablespoons ghee

METHODS

  1. Add oats to 5 cups water. Bring to boil.
  2. Add 1 chopped onion and meat. Cook until meat is tender.
  3. In a separate pan, heat ghee. When hot, saute chopped onion, crushed garlic, spices and dried lemon. Remove from pan.
  4. Add the sauted ingredients to the soup. Leave to boil for 5 minutes before serving.
